All photography is captured using ethical practices to ensure all habitats remain as undisturbed as possible. All illustrations are created from personal field observations and references.

Why Waggle Second Studio?

My first name, Melissa, means Honey bee in Greek. So it seemed only natural to name my studio after the Honey bee’s waggle dance- a precisely choreographed dance that bees use to communicate the distance and direction of food sources and hive sites.

One second of movement is known as a waggle second. Each waggle second translates to coordinates approximately one kilometer from the hive.
